WasherAuthority vs Wix for a Pressure Washing Website

Full disclosure before anything else: we sell done-for-you websites to pressure washing contractors. We are not a neutral party and you should read this knowing that. What we can do is keep the facts straight, give Wix credit where it earns it, and be clear about the cases where Wix is the better call for you.

One note on numbers. We deliberately do not quote Wix's prices on this page, because their plans change and a stale price would be worse than no price. Everything we say about how Wix works was checked against Wix's own documentation in August 2026. The short answer

Both options produce a working website, and both have a monthly cost behind them, theirs a subscription and ours a small care plan. The honest difference is who does the work, what the monthly actually buys, and who owns the result.

What Wix genuinely does well

Wix is a serious product and the criticism it gets online is often lazy. A few things it does better than most people admit:

• You can start today for nothing. No sales call, no deposit, no waiting on anyone. For a brand new operator with more time than money, that matters.
• The editor is genuinely good. Drag and drop, hundreds of templates, and you can see what you are changing while you change it.
• You are not stuck waiting on a person. Want to change your phone number at 10pm? You change it in two minutes without emailing anybody.
• SEO is not the problem people claim. Wix lets you set page titles, meta descriptions, alt text, and structured data. The old "Wix cannot rank" line is out of date.

If you enjoy building things and you have the hours, Wix will not hold you back from ranking in your town. Most contractors who fail to rank on Wix failed on content and reviews, not on the platform.

Where it gets hard for a pressure washing business

The problems tend to show up after the build, not during it.

• The fee never ends, and nothing is ever yours. A website builder plan is rent. Year five is the same bill for a site that has not changed since year one, and if you stop paying the site is gone and there was never anything to take with you.
• The blank page is the real cost. The template is not the hard part. Knowing what a pressure washing homepage needs to say, in what order, to make a homeowner call you instead of the next guy, is the hard part. That is the work, and Wix hands it to you.
• You cannot take the site with you. Wix sites cannot be exported to another host. If you outgrow it or the price rises, you rebuild from scratch.
• Service area pages get skipped. Ranking in the five towns you actually drive to takes a real page per town. Almost nobody building their own site does this, because it is tedious and it is not obvious that it matters.

The 3-year math

This is the part most comparisons skip. A monthly plan is a small number that repeats. Here is what each path actually costs by year three.

The subscription rows are example price points chosen to show the shape of the model, not quotes from Wix. Put in whatever Wix actually quotes you.

Read that table honestly and you will notice we are not the cheapest row on it. A builder subscription at roughly $29 a month is about $1,044 over three years, less than our Starter at $299 plus the Site Care Plan all in. We are not going to hide that, because the table above already shows it. What the difference buys is the build and the maintenance done for you, and an asset you own instead of a rental: stop paying us and the site is unpublished, but you keep the domain, the content and the code and can host it elsewhere.

Add your own hours to the Wix row. A first-time builder doing a decent job on a service business site, including writing the copy, sorting photos, and setting up the basics, is realistically a couple of weekends. Price those weekends at whatever you charge for a Saturday of driveways and the comparison changes shape.

The ownership questions, for us too

Ask these of any provider, including us. A provider with good answers gives them fast.

• Who owns the domain? It should be registered in your name, in your own account. This is true on Wix and it should be true with any builder you hire.
• What happens if I stop paying? On a subscription the site comes down and there is nothing to take with you. With us it comes down too, but you keep the domain, the content and the site code. Get the answer in writing either way.
• Can I move the site somewhere else? On Wix, no. Ask anyone else the same question and take a vague answer as a no.
• Is the price introductory? A promotional first-year rate that renews higher is really the higher rate. Check the renewal price, not the signup price.

Who should pick what

Pick Wix if you are just starting, cash is genuinely tight, you have free evenings, and you actually like this kind of work. A site you built yourself that exists beats a perfect site you never bought. Starting on Wix and replacing it later is a completely reasonable path.

Pick a done-for-you build if your time is worth more on a job than in an editor, you want the site and the code to be yours instead of rented, or you have already tried building it yourself and the half-finished version has been sitting there for months.
